Amiir Sheikh Abdu-Rahman Yiga, also commonly known as Sheikh Kalantanis one of the main and original founders of the Uganda Muslim Community in the UK. He is the current Amiir (Religious leader) of the Uganda Muslim Community in the UK and the Chairman of the College of Sheikhs. He studied his Islamic religious education in Uganda, Libya and Saudi Arabia. Upon his arrival in the UK, he started mobilising Ugandan Muslims to come together, and they started conducting regular Darus and prayer programs which still run to date. He travelled around UK and helped to establish the regional leadership structures and appointed religious regional Leads in South London, Manchester , North London , Coventry , Ireland , Bristol , Birmingham , Liverpool , Derby and Bristol and others. He helped to get the Uganda Muslim Community registered as a charity Organisation with the Charity Commission for England and Wales Sheikh Kalantan is a great preacher and community leader, and he has delivered great talks in many conferences and gatherings, for both Muslims and none Muslims focusing on social, cultural, political and economic aspects, here in the UK and abroad.
