Titular Head of Muslims in Uganda
The Guest of Honour Dr Prince Kassim Nakibinge Kakungulu Prince Nakibinge, the Titular Leader of the Muslim community in Uganda, is multi-faceted with religious, cultural, social, and entrepreneurial responsibilities.
Religious Responsibilities: He succeeded his father in 1991 as Titular head of the Muslim community in Uganda and has since made tremendous developments that have benefited the community at large. He is the Patron and has executive authority over several key Muslim institutions including;
Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA) mother body of Muslim founded education institutions in Uganda. UMEA boasts of having oversight role for over 40 senior secondary schools and over 200 primary schools country wide.
Kibuli Muslim Hospital and Nursing Training Centre with a 250-bed capacity
Uganda Muslim Teachers Association (UMTA) the umbrella organization for Muslim teachers in Uganda
Young Men Muslim Association (YMMA) being the registered trustee of Kibuli hill (a Muslim education center) and other Muslim institution.
He is also one of the Board of Trustees for Equator University of Science and Technology.
Prince Nakibinge is passionate about education. He holds a Leadership Doctorate degree of Philosophy PHD (Honoris Causa) from the University of Lahore Pakistan, a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Cardiff Business School, University of Wales and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from US International University San Diego California. His passion to see the Ummah get educated has seen him play a significant role in developing Kibuli Hill that houses the Kibuli Mosque one of the oldest mosques in Uganda, into an education centre, housing various educational institutions from nursery to tertiary level. The institutions include two senior secondary schools, a teacher training college, a nursing school, a university, and a teaching hospital. Through his patronage the ummah boasts of having outstanding schools, Nabisunsa Girls Secondary School and Kibuli Senior Secondary Schools that continually perform very well academically.
Cultural Responsibilities: Prince Nakibinge is a senior member of the Buganda Royal family. He is a Senior Advisor to HRH the Kabaka of Buganda. He served as Chairman Buganda Public Service Appointment Board between 2002 and 2008 and as Chairman Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku between 1993 and 2012.
Social Responsibilities: He is the Patron to one of Uganda's oldest and successful Football Club Express FC.
Entrepreneurial Responsibilities: Prince Nakibinge has business interest in the agriculture sector (farming and ranching) as well as the real estate sector.
Profession: Prince Nakibinge is a seasoned banker with over 25 years professional banking experience spanning across both multinational and indigenous institutions in and out of Uganda. He worked with Bank of Uganda for 15 years, had job training/ attachments with HSBC Bank plc London, Solomon Smith Barney (SSB Citibank) New York. Northern Trust Bank of Chicago Illinois USA and Strategic Fixed Income SFI Arlington USA. He served as the first ever Executive Director of Tropical Bank a position he held for 8 years before being appointed Acting Managing Director /Chief Executive Officer a position he held for one year. He was then appointed Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer Cairo International Bank from 2016 to 2018. He is a founder member and Shareholder of Greenland Bank and Greenland Group of Companies (now under liquidation).
Family: Prince Nakibinge is a family man happily married with children.
